Meeting The Needs Of Our Community

Thanks to the community and the support of all our generous volunteers, we are able to make a lasting IMPACT, warming the hearts and bodies of our community by providing handcrafted and donated items of comfort, warmth, and dignity.

Since its launch, Community Threads has grown from 11 members to 54 members.  In six months, we have provided 2,269 handcrafted items in addition to the 4,099 articles of clothing.  And we are just getting started!

I received the lovely blue shawl yesterday – thank you. It is perfect in every way!!
The stitching and workmanship is exquisite! Thank you and your group for providing
a great and necessary service for people in need.

We serve shelters for those experiencing homelessness, rehabilitation, and health clinics, local schools, veterans groups, and more.  We currently deliver to approximately 49 locations in the following areas: King George , Westmoreland, Caroline, Stafford, Spotsylvania, Louisa, Culpeper, Orange counties and the City of Fredericksburg. Our recipients are very grateful for every warm hat, scarf, shawl, and blanket we deliver.

We also provide items (handcrafted and clothing) directly to individuals when we learn of a need. Family, friend or neighbor – it does not matter. If you know or learn of someone who would benefit or be comforted by the items we are able to provide, please let us know.

Thanks to the community and the support of all our generous volunteers, we are able to help warm the hearts and bodies of our community!

Community Threads have impacted one family of seven who lost EVERYTHING in a fire. They were lucky that no one was injured, and no lives were lost, but the fire left them with nothing. We were able to provide them with so many items – handcrafted blankets, quilts and each child a different color ‘I Spy Game’, along with new and gently used clothing, sheets, towels and household items totaling 242 items! The individual receiving the delivered items was so surprised, amazed, and appreciative of the help we could provide to this family. What an impact!
