Fredericksburg Agricultural Fair 2024

On Wednesday, July 31st, Millie Goodrich and Linda Foldvik worked at the Fair. As soon as a 12-year-old girl spotted their table and the Fidget Balls, she eagerly pulled her mother over. The mother shared that her daughter had spent the entire summer crocheting various animals and was eager to learn more advanced techniques. Linda and Millie provided more information and invited them both to attend their meetings and workshops. The young crafter reluctantly left the table, carrying a fidget ball that was gifted to her. It was incredibly encouraging to see a youngster so enthusiastic about continuing the art of crochet.

National Night Out 2024

On Tuesday, August 6th, Community Threads participated in the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office National Night Out event, held behind Costco and JC Penney.
This annual event fosters police-community relationships and encourages neighborhood unity.
The event drew many local organizations, including the Fredericksburg Food Bank, the Food Connection, several departments from the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office, and more. Hundreds of residents attended, receiving valuable information and numerous free items.
Thunder 104.5 radio station added to the fun, giving away prizes and highlighting Community Threads and other organizations by announcing what each group offers.
We were proud to provide several wheelchair aids, including wheelchair totes and side totes, as well as many I-Spy games and toys. Many attendees took our cards and a list of the handcrafted items our volunteers create to support those in need. We're thrilled that several teenagers who crochet are eager to join Community Threads.
Thanks to this event, more people now know about us and how to reach out when someone needs our help.
It was a fantastic evening, and we’re excited to be part of this event every year!
